To be asked to be a patron of County Cricket Matters by Annie Chave is simply a complete privilege.

 

I’ve been incredibly fortunate to play county cricket and also to be involved in a coaching capacity. It has been an absolute honour and privilege to do so.

 

Why does county cricket matter? Because county cricket matters.

 

Tradition is important and something that, once lost, is very difficult to resurrect.

We all want our great game to be better, improve and progress. Let’s all have meaningful discussions on what will allow that to happen.

 

Counties in England and Wales have been around a long time and have continued to evolve and survive. I look forward to this continuing to happen.
